Since the moment I met Joyce, I knew I could trust her. She has such a sweet, calming spirit about her that fills the room. Her knowledge and understanding of postpartum is paramount and she helped me so much with breastfeeding both of my girls. I would happily recommend her services to anyone.

philosophy of care
By being thoughtful of individual preferences and unique perspectives, and understanding that each family decides what is right for them, I am able to offer non-judgemental support to my clients. I believe that all parents are striving to be the best they can be -- given their own unique situation; applying knowledge they may already have; knowing when they want/need new skills or information; and accounting for the many unpredictable factors at play that comes with each birth and postpartum experience.
Our conversations will lead us. As your postpartum doula I can be someone to bounce ideas off of as you decide and discover what works well for you, your family, and your new little one. I can share baby, mother & family care suggestions that you may be looking for. Often, one small tweak, one moment of understanding, or one little suggestion or adjustment can often make a huge difference to your early days and weeks. I'd love to be able to support you during this emotional time -- honoring your choices, listening as you share, and working along side of you.

The importance of support during an emotional time
I believe those first days should be reserved for rest, recovery, feedings, and relationship building. |
In the early days after your baby’s birth you may be feeling like one moment everything is wonderfully amazing and then the next moment you are completely unnerved by it all. With a wide spectrum of emotions at play during these especially delicate early days, good postpartum support is invaluable to a mother and baby’s health and well being. I believe those first days should be reserved for rest, recovery, feedings, and relationship building. Getting expert support and assistance can be the crucial ingredient to making this important transition time as smooth and positive for you as possible.

Honoring your choices
...my intention is to support you with sensitivity, openness, and acceptance. |
My goal is to give you practical and emotional support that honors the choices you've made for yourself and your family. Whatever feelings you encounter while getting to know and care for your new baby, my intention is to support you with sensitivity, openness, and acceptance. You have your own personality, goals, and needs, and it is your life -- and that will all be reflected in how you settle in with this new member of your family.

Listening to you
The early weeks and months with your newborn will be unique to you. |
Each postpartum visit starts with me listening to you -- giving you time to express your needs so that I can follow your lead. You get to decide how our visits look and what works best for you. This is your experience and your baby. The early weeks and months with your newborn will be unique to you. This is the only postpartum experience you will have with this baby.
