a little background
What I promise to bring to every postpartum or breastfeeding visit is my professionalism and years of education and experience. My support can help you recover after birth, enrich your postpartum experience, and support a solid foundation for going forward.
My expertise stems from many years of training and continuing education in the fields of postpartum care, parenting, and breastfeeding and from what I've learned from each and every family I’ve had the privilege to serve along the way.
Originally I came to postpartum support as a way of paying it forward and I continue now because it is where my heart still lies and where my years of experience can make a lasting difference. When I was a new mom learning the ropes with my first born, it was women in my community who eased my uncertainty in those early weeks and enhanced my overall experience of mothering in the long run. I will never forget that time or those women. I want you to experience that support and fondly remember your postpartum days, too.
My credentials include postpartum doula certification through DONA (Doulas of North America, Intl. https://www.dona.org) and breastfeeding support accreditation through La Leche League, Intl. (https://www.llli.org). Additionally, I am CPR certified and up to date with vaccinations. I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Canada where I grew up. In addition to my science & postpartum background, I have experience as a professional baker and pastry chef.
I live in Killingworth, Connecticut with my husband, where we are empty nesting after the lively and fulfilling years of raising our three now independent children together. I have been pleased and honored to offer my services to many families, living in the many different CT towns and cities that surround me.
What I promise to bring to every daytime, evening, or overnight postpartum support visit or every breastfeeding and/or sleep support visit, is my professionalism and years of valuable hands-on experience. My support can help you recover and rest after birth, enrich your postpartum expereince, and support a solid foundation for going forward.
Being a first time mother, I was at a point where I didn't even know how to get out of the house by myself, not to mention how to cook, do laundry and just even just take out the diaper trash when I had a baby who just couldn't seem to be pleased and was crying the whole time! Joyce came and showed me some amazing tricks. I felt like it was day and night after her visits. Not only did she help me do some chores while we were together, she showed me how I could do them with the baby when she was not around. I recommend her without reservation to anyone who needs help postpartum. She gave me many wonderful tips about breastfeeding, too. I think you will find her to be a wealth of knowledge with practical skills and tips, and wonder why you didn't have her earlier!!
